New Chapter

Woots! Yesterday is the grand opening ceremony of the inaugural summer Youth Olympic Games (YOG) !

Well, I am not that rich to actually buy the tix and went downtown to catch the show live. I watch it from my television comfortably on my couch instead. Prefer the later better. : )

Despite the smaller scale ceremony (as compared to the Olympic games), it was simply spectacular. I especially love the design of that stage. It wasn't the conventional gigantic stadium with the boring oval stage. It is a floating platform on freakin' sea! And behind it is the beautiful night skyline of Singapore. The night sky, the stunning sky-crappers, the calm blue sea, and the dazzling stage all merged together perfectly, gosh, the whole scene was just breath taking.

I love the mascot for YOG. Merly and Lyo. They are so much better than our Orang Utan back in 1998 Commonwealth Game.
Which one do you like? I like both!

Below is some photos that I stole from other photographers. No copyrights infringement is intended.

The Olympic Flame came to my school on Thursday....while I was playing truth and dare with Kev, Win, and Maggie at Holland V's Starbucks. LOL.
The show begins!
Look closely, the Olympic rings are made of human. And they are splashing water. LOL
Cultural performance

Mass dances (dancing to different songs from the past to the present, wile the backdrop was "performing" the progress of Singapore from a fishing village to a modern city.)
The gigantic story book at one side of stage unfolds as it tells the story of a young athlete (a boxer to be precise)
A monster took the center stage as it was terrorizing the young boxer.
The monster symbolizes fear in each and every one of us. In this case, "fear" takes form of a 20-feet monster.
Err.......Oh something shiny! Bunch of people that looks like they are lost from the set of Lady Gaga's music video are joining in the fight against the monster. The monster (fear) was finally defeated by the young boxer after all.
Hearts...oh...so sweet...
The small lil' girl who play with fire..... (she's cute!)
....and she set the stage on fire. Various fire-motive performances were going on simultaneously.
The fire performers on the stage finally comes together and form a fiery, fire-breathing dragon. As you can see here, the school of carp is forming the dragon body, it was later joined in by other pyrotechnic performers. I couldn't find a decent photo of the completed dragon. Imagine the body of the dragon is lined with fire. It looks absolutely stunning on TV.
Oh something shiny...again!
The most anticipated moment of the night. The arrival of the sacred Olympic flame. The torch bearer came across the sea on a phoenix, while a dozen of dragon boats paving the way for the magnificent creature.
The final torch bearer run across the water towards the cauldron. I love the idea of having a pool of water on the stage, it adds to the mysterious of the performance.
The grand cauldron is lit! The YOG 2010's cauldron takes form of a firehouse, which is appropriate, considering Singapore is an island after all.

 Fire works!

The photos are great, but it couldn't much of yesterday atmosphere. There were seven chapters of performances, and I could only post up photos for a few of them (too lazy to dig up all the other photos..)

I think Singapore has done himself very proud yesterday. Despite the ahem...ahem flag parade, which was quite disastrous (but nevertheless quickly forgiven by the amazing show), everything else was great. It was an awesome opening ceremony and I hope people would stop comparing this to the Beijing Summer Olympic 2008. It is simply not fair. Singapore has limited human resources, limited space, limited budget and limited time in organizing this event (as compared to Beijing 2010). FYI, Singapore could only start planning for this event as early as only two years ago. To be honest, I doubt if any other country in the region could have pull together such an amazing show in the given condition.

Great job, Singapore! You have done Asia proud! ( Did I mention that I have huge Asian pride?! Now you know, lol)

Enjoy the theme song for YOG 2010

It's official, someone is sabotaging my week.

I am talking about sequential events of bad luck. Not gonna go through each one of them, but fyi, yours truly is caught  on the fever. As in, the fever fever, NOT on the Youth Olympic fever. Speaking of which, the Olympic flame will reach Singapore Poly tomorrow.

Ok, back to the fever thingy. I was already feeling awkwardly uncomfortable since Monday night, my head was hurting like hell. Thank god Nick was there to drive me back. The moment I reached home, I swear the floor was spinning. The next morning, I woke up to a incredibly painful sore throat. Later that night, it develops into a fever and cold.

Went to see the doc this morning. He said something about a disease and how my throat has basically swolen pretty badly. And he mentioned some people takes weeks for it to recover. Seriously. Fuck my life.

Ok, the medicine has just kick in. Which mean, it is time to sleep. Will continue more on my misfortune soon.

Uneventful

Half Remembered Dream

I f*cking hate today. I swear there must be some idiots who cursed my day. Nothing went smooth today at all. As the title suggest, this has got to be the most uneventful day ever.

First off, waking early up in the morning to find myself being scolded by my mom for some trivial business. And then I was given the silent treatment by both her and my sister. Sarcasms and insults in the form of M-1

Fine, fine, after breakfast, I was hoping to get some fresh air at 1U, meeting up with Jiun, Jie Cong and Alanna before I leave tomorrow. How excited I was. Approaching 12, Jiun's SMS came with thunder and lightning in background. He can't come, and so is Jie Cong. Both fell sick......haih..

Seriously, I bloody hope that they are playing a joke on me. They better be.

Now I am just chilling at Starbucks. Nick is gonna collect his ITP (Industrial Training Programme) from me at 1U after his work, which is around 8pm. I thought of going home first, but then I realised, my family left home and I don't have the key. So.....how am I gonna spend eight hours at 1U?

Gah, today's a joke. A really rotten joke....FML...seriously, FML!

This is an emo rant.

Damn it, I wish I knew what's in your head.

I am out of inspiration to blog about. There is nothing interesting about my life for me to even talk about...Haih, reports everyday. Meetings everyday. Cold war with classmates everyday. Life sucks. Can't wait for holiday to come. I can't stand this bullshyt anymore. Everyone is taking everyone for granted. Screw you....

Initially, I wanted to go back to KL this coming Friday. Intending to ponteng Fluid Mechanic lecture on that day so that I can go home. However, sudden huge load of events/meeting forced me to delay my trip. Have to hand in Fluid Mech assignment and reports, attend meeting with the course management team, sports challenge final, juniors-meet-seniors session, BBQ with my course-mate, and another BBQ with my club-mates. I don't even know how to split body to attend events which takes place simultaneously.

Arghhh.....next week faster ends!

Till then, ciao.

Of This and That.

My latest design...Gosh, I have not design anything for months. Have to admit that the poster is not one of my best, but, I had to get it done in hours, what do you expect..

My next big project that I am truly excited about will be the ISC's Dinner and Dance 2011. Even before the committee board is announced, my position have been shifted from usher to souvenir to publicity & marketing to usher and finally Program Coordinator. @.@ Well, have to admit that I actually like this post! I am gonna spend the next six months with Marchia to draft out the most elaborate plan for that night. The theme of the big night has been decided, but for the sake of publicity, we decided to keep mum about it for the time being : ) More updates in the  future....

Anywhere, today I had dinner at Thai-Express with Dr Ming Tham, Dr Wong and also some seniors for the UK attachment programme. It was a great dinner, we can't stop laughing! LOL! Damn it, I can't wait to go UK this September!

After the dinner, which is around 9-ish...I actually wanted to go and catch a movie. However, in the end, I change my mind and spent 2 hours at Starbucks doing reports...FML....Haih, at least now my report is finish! : D

Some random photos that I took when I was bored. (Sorry lah, I am not a good photographer and I took them with a lousy camera phone...)

My desk...
Complete silence, with a hint of jazz in the back

When I look up, a wall of water ...COOL!

Note: Are we that incapable of some decent conversation? It is just disappointing to see that the same topic being brought up again and again.Guess I overestimated you at first place after all.

Damn, Monday blues are already here. Seriously, I find Sunday is the most depressing day of the week, where I spent most of the time in the day rushing my assignments. Tsk tsk, procrastination.... Another reason why I hated school days now is the dramas in my class. Too many things have happened in my class, and I just too pissed to even stick my feet into in. Another one and a half year and I be free from this mess.

Two more weeks and it is YOG! Youth Olympic Games, in case you didn't know. I actually intended to join the event as a volunteer, but the overwhelming school works held me back. Further more, exams will be just a week after the event. Rather not taking the risk.

Will be back in KL for a couple of days during the games to settle something. Hopefully this time I would be able to hang out with Yong Jiun they all. Gosh, I am gonna kill him for missing the trip to Singapore a few weeks ago.Speaking of which, it was awesome! Went to Universal Studio with Alanna, Arthur, Pikky, Julius and Di-ann. Though it was the 3rd time I have been there, gotta say it was the best time I had there. Mainly because this time there are friends around to go with. Yes, I went solo the previous 2 times.

Ok, that's all the updates I have in mind now.

Ciao

I doubt if anyone still visit my blog, but here goes nothing.

Stumble upon an torn A7 sized note pad while I was cleaning my room. For those who know me long enough, you should know what an "amazing" memory I have. Thus, I used to update my passwords and user name there.

The second page of the noted pad lead me here. Written across the coffee-stained page with a crisp blue ink was the user name & password for my blogger account. Gasp, I used to blog. And I forgotten how to do it.

Reading back my past entries was indeed interesting. My life have took a few turns since I first started blogging a few years back. Honestly speaking, I miss that those time when everything was much simpler. Guess we never know what's valuable to us until we really lost it

Life has been lamentably hectic. Juggling between studies, clubs, and personal life was never an easy job. And my choleric-melancholic nature makes things even harder than it is. Somehow, I would say that school has raped my social life. My topics of discussion with friends will not run away from organizing school events, rushing project works, discussing about the perfect FYP lecturers, and occasionally gossiping and dissing those be-atches from our school. Poof, there goes half of my school life in Singapore.

The fact that I am here, blogging, doesn't promise that I am going back to the blogging. I am never a great fan of blogging. On top of that, updating this blog is deemed to be too much a hassle that I could handle. Alright, I gotta clean my room.

Hopefully, this is not the epilogue.
