Of This and That.

|

My latest design...Gosh, I have not design anything for months. Have to admit that the poster is not one of my best, but, I had to get it done in hours, what do you expect..

My next big project that I am truly excited about will be the ISC's Dinner and Dance 2011. Even before the committee board is announced, my position have been shifted from usher to souvenir to publicity & marketing to usher and finally Program Coordinator. @.@ Well, have to admit that I actually like this post! I am gonna spend the next six months with Marchia to draft out the most elaborate plan for that night. The theme of the big night has been decided, but for the sake of publicity, we decided to keep mum about it for the time being : ) More updates in the  future....

Anywhere, today I had dinner at Thai-Express with Dr Ming Tham, Dr Wong and also some seniors for the UK attachment programme. It was a great dinner, we can't stop laughing! LOL! Damn it, I can't wait to go UK this September!

After the dinner, which is around 9-ish...I actually wanted to go and catch a movie. However, in the end, I change my mind and spent 2 hours at Starbucks doing reports...FML....Haih, at least now my report is finish! : D

Some random photos that I took when I was bored. (Sorry lah, I am not a good photographer and I took them with a lousy camera phone...)

My desk...
Complete silence, with a hint of jazz in the back

When I look up, a wall of water ...COOL!

Mattness

Blogger's note: Pardon the pun. Madness Mattness. : )

Sorry for the lack of update. The whole of last week has been pretty heavy for me. I am so glad that the T-shirt selling is over, and now I can move on to the other projects, namely, DCHE Sports Challenge, Foveo III, DCHE Website, DCHE Got Talents!....and others. The list could go on forever, I swear.

So far, my balancing act between Student Chapter and studies has work out well. Apart from the frequent random outburst of madness I had during the classes ( ask Joevin, Yadana and Shaheerah ), I think I did bloody well. So, I decided to add some excitement to my somewhat crazy life.

I went for the ISC interview. It was totally not a spur of the moment thing.

Obviously, I didn't go there alone, I dragged along Marchia and Yadana with me. We reached there at arnd 5pm+ and we waited till 10pm for our interview. Yup, 10 pm. We had lots of fun thou while waiting. We drank the wine that was intended for our experiment, we gossiped, we laughed, and suddenly, we are outside the interview room already.

Honestly, I wasn't as nervous I thought I would be. Probably due the the fact that I laughed so much and I was already bloody tired after a straight 8am-6pm classes with only 1 hour pathetic lunch break in between. So, I went in there, sat down in front of 22 seniors.

And they started shooting questions at me.

Like a bazooka.

I must admit, they throw pretty darn good questions at me. To an extent that I felt my mind was very contradicted. Of all the questions I answered, the hardest one has got to be this,

"Tell us a story, any story."

I eventually came out with some story, not without some struggling.

Overall, although I managed to answer their questions, I felt like I was being a f***ed up arrogant bastard who was trying to hard to make sense though. Ha. We shall see next week when the short listed candidates list is announced.

Anyway, yesterday, Joevin, Shaheerah, Yadana and I went on a "SP Tour". We got too bored waiting for Intro to Microbiology practical and decided to went for a walk to the other side of the school. Yeah, eventually, we spent 1 hour walking up and down, in and out of the school buildings. Not too bad a way to spend time eh?

Seriously, we were like so bloody high these few days.

And I am so fucking annoyed when some ppl never pick up the responsibility to do their work. In the end, you ppl drag behind the entire progress and causes trouble to us! Also, to "that person", could you stop asking stupid question ? Seriously, I felt like giving you a punch in the face the other day. Sometimes I wonder if your IQ is equivalent to your shoe size.

My life could have been much better if I can really cancel off the last paragraph off my life. ; )

Thanks for reading!

We Rock!

Blogger's note: There is no note.

The reprinted DCHE Tee has arrived.....The new Tee samples look so much better.. ; )  The EXCO members aka Naziah, Ting Sin, Jufri and I went to MLT 1 to promote the T-shirt to the year 3s during their common lecture..... Ting Sin even brought a mannequin top so that we could put the T-shirt sample over it and promote to the students. The response was ok. I heard that one of the class has all of the students bought it! Hahas!

Heard from Dr.Chia (actually, Marchia heard it from him, and retold the story to us) that our class did very well for APChem! Apparently, I ALMOST got full marks! Woot! I am not gonna be modest and I am damn proud of myself, lol! 'Dah hidung tinggi!  Haha! On top of that, our class, DCHE1A03 has defeated all the other course taking this paper....Yes, all other courses including Biomedical Science peeps! Even their lecturers were surprised as well. Out of the 15/16 distinctions, 7 actually came from our class. Ah well, our class rocks on forever. ChemEng rules!

Yesterday, Yadana and I went to the "Science Pursuit" thing at T1A yesterday...  Why? Course they will be showing the CLS promo video to the audience. I mean, the CLS video featuring us for less than 15 seconds...haha! It is just a short clip to promote all the CLS courses. We were thick-skinned enough to sit on the floor in front of the whole bunch of secondary school students.....LOL. Yadana, Marchia and I were filmed the other day at W318...and we are quite anxious to see it...Anyway, this is how our "scene" looks like..

In the video, I was walking down the pilot plant at ground floor and I tell Yadana to initiate the process via talkie-talkie....on the other end, Yadana in the control room replied and proceed to start the thang using those oh-so-canggih computer. As I walk to the other side to turn the knob on the machine, Marchia on the second storey is taking down the stats...the end.. For the record, the three of us have no idea what we are doing on the pilot plant thingy...lol, don't think we will touch those stuff until I am year 3 anyway.

LOL, lame? I agree so....Haha, but then again, it was quite fun when we did the video. Anyway, as compared to all the other CLS courses, our clip seems to be the most boring. The other courses' clips are bloody colours with all those pretty chemicals...while ours are plain grey-silvery pilot plant, machines and control station.

To be honest, ChemEng was really nothing like what I imagined when I signed up for the course. Instead of Chemistry, as the title sort of "promised", we actually deal more with physics, engineering and mathematics. Of course we still take some minor modules related to Bio and Chem...But still, a bit component of our course is related to technical stuffs.....After taking the module for almost half a year now, I realize that it is not as bad/boring as it sounds...after all, physics are all bout understanding theories....there is nothing much to worry about once the concept is clear. A lot of ppl have asked me this question, and now I shall answer it....

Anyone: Are you changing course to DCP next year?

NO!

I think that is all for now. I am sleepy. nites.

Blank.

Blogger's note: Too lazy to think of a blog title. Blank. XP

As mentioned in the earlier post, the Marina Barrage visit has been canceled, due to the fact that the year 1s have to attend a compulsory briefing on the very same day. It is something about CPTC .....our internship at Jurong Island next year. On the other hand, the response for the DCHE Tee is crapy.....As a designer of the shirt, and the person in-charge of the publicity, you can imagine how fucking depressing/stressing it is for me.... Haih....how I wish all this negative vibes could just swing away.

Ok, enough with ranting....Talk about happy stuff.

Saw Mrs.Leong at FC3 yesterday. She told us that I did "extraordinary well" for my Material in Practice final paper. She even said that no one has ever did this well in the past too.... Damn, I am GOOD! HAHA! Self-praise IS still a praise! I am not gonna lie.....I am so proud of myself man......

Kk, i shall stop on this before you guys got disgusted....ha.

Attended Econ class in the evening for the second time now...Thank god I didn't do anything stupid this time. I managed to stay awake through out the 4 hour lesson. And I managed to give a perfect answer to the tutorial question. WOOT! Anyway, during those short dinner break and toilet break, CaiTing and I were chatting non stop....haha, quite fun too....For some reason, our small group seem to be the most responsive group there.....

Had to crawl out of my cosy bed just to attend the GEM today...I took Psychology and Counseling ( or as Lanna put it......Psycho!). Quite a relaxing module I guess...For the first half of the lesson was lecture, which was quite interesting. While the second half concern more on the psychology test...Kinda anticipating the next lesson.

Meeting again this Friday. Timetable is super packed with lessons and practicals and meetings. Should I register for ISC interview next Monday.....I can't make decision....Someone! Help me!

Yup, that's all.....This post is basically some random updates on my school life.

Bye!

Blogger's note: I am bored......yet, I have tonnes to things to do. And heck, I don't like the new facebook layout.....

I survived the first week of school.....yay me!....swt. Anyway, 9 modules in one semester isn't as hard as it seems... well, as least for the first week. I am starting to really like some of the modules already....so far, my favourite is Chem Eng Principle B......

Gosh, my lecturer actually give a length explanation and apologies for being late.....for 1 minute. ONE minute only, and he sincerely apologized to the whole class of 23 brats. Whoa...wonder what he'll do if he's late for 15 minutes.

So far, I find Eng Maths the most challenging........that bloody SPM Add.Math syllabus is so much shallow than O-level..... I was feeling lost half the lesson when the lecturer talk about things that are considered "basic" ...and yet I have never learn in my high school. Fcuk SPM. I'm need lots of work to lay some foundation for this module.

On another note, first week into the new position as assistant VP is tiring..... The amount of problems that arise in just one week is enough to kill my brain. Just received some bad news regarding the DCHE Tee.... Marina Barrage trip got canceled. Man...this is not looking good.  I am laughing in agony at the exco election/interview coming in just a few weeks....Anyway, giving up is so not my style.... : )  Gotta figure out an escape plan asap....

When all thing are not working well, you will realise that the smallest thing could really cheer you up. Here was what happened.

There was an email from DHL yesterday, saying that I have a package, which cannot be delivered due to an incomplete address.....So, I updated them with the correct address, and the package arrived at my door steps this morning.

It was a "Case Logic" laptop case sent all the way from Deutschland (Germany lah~).  o.O

The letter attached reads,

"Dear James Matthew,
...............(yadayadayada..unrelated formalities-blabbing )............
You have proven yourself as a true rubber expert and secured the 7. rank on our highscore list. We would like to say "Congratulation" and hope that you will have a lot of fun with your prize!"

First of all......James Matthew?..........It's Matthew James! Fuck it.................James' the surname, Matthew's the given name, how hard can it be?!.......Yes, Azfar, I am telling this to you too! Stop calling me James!......and yes, I laughed uncontrollably at the line "true rubber expert".

Anyway, I got this prize from a German rubber company "Lanxess" . They will be opening their plant here in Singapore in a few more years, and they were recruiting during ChemExpo......There was this nice lady who came to me and told me all this, and also asked me to go online and play the "game"

And out of boredom, I actually did. It was like a quiz, answering questions related to material science, specifically on rubber and co-polymer..fyi, it was pretty much what we have learned from Material in Practice in school :  )

Little did I know that I actually won something out of it. The laptop bag is just a normal simple bag. But then again, I won it.........woohoo! It feels good you know? I mean, I never had much luck in this kind of thing, and out of the blue, I actually won something. Yeah, you bet it feels bloody good! It definitely cheer up my day...

.....Hmmm, I am hoping I have more things to update u guys on...but nah....that's all for now.......

So, good nights!

Delusioned.

Blogger's note: School has started. Stress is building up. Sorry readers, I will be following JC's approach - posting on Saturday. Of course, unless I am bloody free to post. But do check my blog from time to time.

As you readers know, I couldn't sleep on Sunday night. And gosh, trying to stay awake when you're sleep deprived is freakin' hard. I swear I almost fell asleep even when I was walking.

First day of school!

When to see Ms.Yau to get the order forms, posters and flyers for the Tee. Gosh, I have totally no Y2s and Y3s contacts at all... How on earth am I gonna pass the stuff to those 12 classes? Luckily, Naziah was there to help me with it.....Seriously couldn't have done it without her help. Big thanks to Naziah! Later, wanted to put up the posters at the labs/workshop....most of them were not open anyway....

Anyway, was slightly disappointing when I was told that the Tee samples will not be arriving until this Friday. I really really want to see how does the real Tee looks like. Am fcuking worried that the Tee not gonna look like the way I design it....I'm worried sick.....

Also, thanks to all 1B03-ians !!!! You guys totally rock man!!!!! Thanks for supporting me....I didn't expect you all to buy the Tee....thank you very much...THANKS!!!!

I survived the morning. IOCHEM ( Inorganic and Organic Chem)......It's was ok, I guess?! But, the lesson was getting a lil' bit dry. Appreciate the lecturer's effort trying to make the lesson more lively.

Afternoon, IOCHEM practical. Thank god it's the first week and we don't have practical yet. Just some briefing. It was alright I guess. Then we have Engineering Maths tutorial, again, since we have not even had a lecture yet, there is no tutorial todae.

Finally, after fighting with Mr.Sandman for morning and afternoon.....Now's the night life...well, kinda?

Sadly though, my 'night life' is not late night clubbing or stuff like that. It was evening classes of Econ. 4 hours till 9:30pm..and we didn't have dinner yet.

Hungry and sleepy. I think I am justified to sleep in class. And here's was what happened...

Lecturer: (teaching about substitution and complements)

Matt : (day night dreaming, half way into sleeps)

Lecturer: So, for example the relationship between a "Ipod" and the "headphone" is.....? (answer is complements goods)

(I forgot what I was day-dreaming about, but here is what happened, the thought of certain word just popped up in my brain and I was subconsciously convinced to say that word out. I look at the lecturer, very very blur proudly and loudly shouted out the word)

Matt: BATTERIES!

Everyone: (turned to me and laughed)

That has to be the most random thing that I have done in my life. I have no idea what have got me into saying Battery out loud. I mean, it is totally random. I have no idea how the word just pop out like that and I just couldn't resist the urge to say that word.......Anyway, the moment was priceless man..though it was bloody embarrassing as hell. Ironically, that was the only time the whole class was slightly more lively. Ah well, Matt has became the Joker of the business class already

Ok, that's all for now. Gonna go for dinner now. Bye!~

Go away. Because you took up too much space in my brain.  : )

Colours

|
Blogger's notes: There's something wrong with my mozilla firefox, my hotmail and blogger seem messed up...arghh.....Much as I hated it, am forced to use Internet Explorer for now, any idea?

Anyone who saw my pencil case, they will look twice.

It looks like a fine black pencil case from the outside. Nothing unusual.

Well, it is nothing special except I have over 20 colour pens/ highlighters in it.

2 pens in guy's pencil case...common.
20 pens in a guy's pencil case....seldom but fair enough.
20 colour pens in a guy's pencil case.... Rare.

Don't believe? Check out the photo below.

Seeing is believing....

Anyone who didn't know me reading this would think that I have some sorta colour fetish. I would, if I am reading this from someone else's blogs.

Now, wait till you see my lecture notes....I would not call it a notes at all....It was once a stack papers with boring black and white small fonts.....by the end of the semester, it has turned into a scrapbook with vibrant colours splashing around.

I have low attention span. Yes, I can't stay attentive for long. I always wonder off to lala land during lessons. That is why you usually see me staring at the lecturer and nodding at interval...It is just a cover up while I am day-dreaming in some other dimension. It works all the time. : )

I can't possible sit still in front of the notes and absorb everything into my brain like a sponge. I need music and more ever, I need to doodle. So, as I am revising, you will see me blasting loud music into my ears, while 'illustrating' my lecture notes.

But hell, it actually works! Seriously, I find it so much easier to remember facts/ understand theory but literately drawing it out. Take "Material In Practice" for example, it is so much easier when I have underlined the key points and doodle around it using colour pens....The colours, the drawings, all instantly stuck in my brain long enough for examination. Another good thing of using colours is.....It makes studying less stressful. In a way, I am indulging myself in Art more than studying.

I actually learned this from Lanna and Jie Cong (thx btw!). I used to see Lanna's Sejarah notes filled with colours and all that, and she claims it works like magic for her.

Jie Cong and his stick man figures that covers across the 6 whiteboards of form 5 classrooms during the study leave...His simple strokes of stick men easily covered several chapters of Sejarah in no time. Like the one below, he summarized the entire chronology of Khalifah system and each of their merits...with drawings! ( fyi to all non-SPM, it's Islamic Studies from the History subject...and it sucks!)

We actually survived though high school History lessons. 11 years of tremendous torture.

I merged the two methods together and it really works like magic !........and btw, Lanna, would you mind to reimburst me for all the money I spent on those colour pens?! (hint hint : Your ang pau moneh!)

So, readers....If you're thinking of a better studying method...Try colours. It really worth a try.

COLOURS..
because life is too short to be dull :D

K, guys, that is all for today! See ya next time!

Turn Over A New Leaf

|
Blogger's note: The blog is still under contruction, please bear with us for a while....

I killed my last blog yet again. Yes, you heard me right. Again.

I might just ended up on top spot of police wanted list for brutal murder of god-knows how many blogs. Well, at least this time I still keep my address, just that I have moved all the previous post to another location. 88 posts. That was how far my previous blog lasted. Hopefully, this new blog is more longer lasting.

(I am not gonna go into details of why I deleted all those posts and start over.)

As the title suggests....this blog will be a whole new start from me...I do hope that I can keep this blog frequently updated despite of the unstoppable assignments laid on me when new semester starting in a couple of weeks.

Well, to celebrate the start of this new blog, I am gonna share a good news with you guys.

I got 4.0 GPA with full distinctions!
(sorry that i lied to some of you guys saying that i flunked my exam XP)

And now I have to face the stress to maintain this awesome figure....Wish me luck!

Btw, Britney Spears' new song - 3 .....totally rocks! Who knew a song about threesome can be so catchy and addictive!

That is all for today.
